Why Men Love Bitches

Review From Publishers Weekly
Contending that some women are "too nice," comedian and radio show host Sherry Argov has written Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl-A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship. "I'm not recommending that a woman have an abrasive disposition," Argov writes, "The woman I'm describing is kind yet strong. She doesn't give up her life, and she won't chase a man." Her sassy book is filled with scenarios and advice aimed at making women subtly stronger and self-empowered. Argov's principles, which range from the farfetched to the downright absurd, include "If you give him a feeling of power, he'll want to protect you and he'll want to give you the world" and "A little distance combined with the appearance of self-control makes him nervous that he may be losing you." The book, which has already been featured on The View and The O'Reilly Factor, should make waves with its controversial view of relationships.

Why Men Marry Bitches

Review From Publishers Weekly
As in her previous book, Why Men Love Bitches, Argov does not use the word "bitch" in a pejorative way, but rather "to describe a strong woman who has her own identity and is secure with who she is." And while encouraging women to be strong, independent and inscrutable is sound advice, the motivation behind this advice-to keep his interest-makes for a headache-inspiring contradiction. Fortunately, Argov takes readers step-by-step through her process, including numerous "Relationship Principles" that keeps her concepts clear ("Relationship Principle 35: Men are intrigued by anything they do not completely control."). Though the generalizations Argov uses to describe her pre-bitch audience can at times be condescending, and her goals are more about acting-rather than believing-that you don't need a man to feel complete, the behavior she encourages is healthy and useful, even outside the realm of husband-hunting. Taken more as a Bitch's Guide to Life-the word "relationship," after all, doesn't necessarily imply romance-this is a solid self-help.

Women have all the Power...Too Bad they Don't Know It

Review
Have men tricked women right out of their skirts and into a life of debauchery and promiscuity, or have women just given into the sexual desires of men in hopes their performance in bed will some how warrant a man's heart? If so, how much longer will women go on allowing men to disrespect them; and even worse, how long will women continue to disrespect themselves? Michael J. Lockwood, a bold and controversial first-time author, takes an in-your-face approach to relationships by spotlighting sex and feminism and how they affect modern-day romance. This father of three girls felt it was time to unveil the true secrets behind  men's relentless pursuit of women. In Women Have All The Power... Too Bad They Don't Know It, Lockwood delivers a rude awakening by exposing women and how their own behaviors contribute to exploitation and infidelity. He keeps it real by turning the mirror back on women and challenges them to take responsibility for their own choices and actions. In this enlightening account, Lockwood does and exemplary job of providing women with detailed insight to the simplicity of a man's MO as it relates to intimacy. This book revolutionizes dating and relationships as we now know them and allows women to regain their rightful position of POWER. --Lisa L. Enterprises

The Art Of Seduction

 Review by Max Davies
 AoS
The Art of Seduction' Robert Greene
Greene's book is probably the most significant contribution to the field of seduction since its beginnings in the Kama Sutra' and Ovid's Art of Love'. The author takes the essential ideas of some of the greatest thinkers and seducers and compiled them into one readable reference/ textbook/ sourcebook.
The ideas in the book have appropriate examples from history that function not only to illustrate, but also to educate the would-be seducer at the same time. Such a remarkable character of a text has only been achieved elsewhere (to my knowledge) in Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People'.

He's Just Not That Into You

Review From Publishers Weekly
It’s a classic single-woman scenario: you really like this guy, but he’s giving mixed messages. You make excuses, decide he’s confused, afraid of commitment. Behrendt, a former executive story editor for Sex and the City—and a formerly single (now happily married) guy who knows all the excuses—provides a simple answer: he’s just not that into you. Stop kidding yourself, let go and look for someone else who will be. After all, as Behrendt sensibly puts it, "if a (sane) guy really likes you, there ain’t nothing that’s going to get in his way." If you’re not convinced yet, by all means read this smart, funny and surprisingly upbeat little book, full of q’s and a’s covering every excuse woman has ever made to avoid admitting to herself that a man just wasn’t that smitten with her.

Its Called a Breakup Because Its Broken

Review From Publishers Weekly
If He's Just Not That into You told a woman how to spot a man who's not really interested in a relationship with her—and how to deal with it proactively—this follow-up is for those, male and female, who've been blindsided by a breakup after thinking Everything Is Fine. Speaking less this time from a guy's perspective and more as someone who has been dumped and survived, Behrendt tackles the often inevitable symptoms of a broken attachment: the obsessive thinking (and calling and e-mailing), the crying, the debilitating depression (and its effects on one's job performance), the crazy acting-out, the food and spending issues, the friend burnout. This time, Behrendt is aided by his wife, who offers her own breakup stories, with the two together serving as a constant reminder that one can love again. The book is padded with not-so-funny vignettes, and anecdotal letters from readers are answered in a rather wearying Dear Abby style. There's little new or insightful, but Behrendt's frankness—never too harsh—is as winning as ever, and the title is catchy. Everything is more or less in place for this burgeoning franchise.

Act Like a Lady Think Like a Man

Review From Publishers Weekly
As a popular comedian, radio host and red-blooded male, Harvey doesn't have the bona fides typical to most women's relationship self-help, but he still manages a thorough, witty guide to the modern man. Harvey undertakes the tast because "Women are clueless about men," because "Men get away with a whole lot of stuff" and because he has "some valuable information to change all of that." Harvey makes a game effort, taking a bold but familiar men-are-dogs approach: if you're "cutting back" on sex, "he will have another woman lined up and waiting to give him what he needs and wants--the cookie." Several chapters later, however, he introduces the "ninety-day rule," asserting that, actually, he won't always have another woman lined up--and the only way to makes sure is a three-month vetting period. Harvey also tackles mama's boys, "independent--and lonely--women," and the matter of children in the dating world ("If he's meeting the kids after you decide he's the one, it's too late"). Feminists and the easily offended probably won't take to Harvey's blanket statements and blunt advice, but Harvey's fans and those in need of tough (but ticklish) love advice should check it out (especially the hysterical last-chapter Q&A).

The Five Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me..for Women

This review is from: The Five Lessons a Millionaire Taught Me for Women (Hardcover)
The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me for Women About Life and Wealth by Richard Paul Evans is short, sweet and filled with financial pearls of wisdom. Commonsense advice, valuable resources and motivational quotations make this little book a must read for any women ready for financial success.

Truthfully, I am always a little skeptical about men writing books aimed at women. I was happy to realize that Richard Paul Evans was inspired to write this book based on the advice he gave his niece and the lessons from his first book The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me About Life and Wealth. He uses the same five keys as the first book but adds tips, statistics and examples aimed at women and our specific financial needs. I read the original 5 Lessons and still wanted to read this one because it was specifically geared toward women. The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me for Women About Life and Wealth didn't disappoint!

Who Moved My Cheese

Amazon.com Review
Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your perspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that all can come to see it as a blessing, if they understand the nature of cheese and the role it plays in their lives. Who Moved My Cheese? is a parable that takes place in a maze. Four beings live in that maze: Sniff and Scurry are mice--nonanalytical and nonjudgmental, they just want cheese and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Hem and Haw are "littlepeople," mouse-size humans who have an entirely different relationship with cheese. It's not just sustenance to them; it's their self-image. Their lives and belief systems are built around the cheese they've found. Most of us reading the story will see the cheese as something related to our livelihoods--our jobs, our career paths, the industries we work in--although it can stand for anything, from health to relationships. The point of the story is that we have to be alert to changes in the cheese, and be prepared to go running off in search of new sources of cheese when the cheese we have runs out.

Eat, Pray, Love

At 32 years old, Elizabeth Gilbert was educated, had a home and a husband, and a successful career as a writer. However, she was unhappy in her marriage and often spent the night crying on her bathroom floor. In the midst of an affair she separated from her husband and initiated a divorce, which her husband contested. The affair continued for some time but did not work out either leaving her devastated and alone. While writing an article on yoga vacations in Bali, she met a seventh-generation medicine man who told her she would come back and study with him. After finalizing her difficult divorce, she spent the next year traveling around the world. She spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life (Eat). She spent four months in India, finding her spirituality (Pray). She ended the year in Bali, Indonesia, looking for "balance" of the two and found love (Love); in the form of a dashing Brazilian factory owner.[5]
Gilbert paid for the trip with an advance she received on a book she planned to write.[6]Oprah Winfrey enjoyed the book, and devoted two episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show to it.[3]
